About
The GWU Language Center facilitates and promotes foreign language studies at the university, providing a wide array of academic support for both faculty and students. We also maintain the Language Center Classroom, the Language Center Seminar Room, the Language Center Media Classroom, and the Language Center Resource Lab to flexibly meet different teaching and learning styles.
The Language Center also houses GW's English for Academic Purposes program (EAP) for enrolled GW students with non-English-speaking background. The EAP program's main goal is to assist non-native English speakers in adapting to the rigorous academic context at the George Washington University, particularly in developing their research and writing skills.
Meet the Director
Shoko Hamano is an award winning Professor of Japanese and International Affairs in the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences and the Elliott School of International Affairs. In March, 2011, Professor Hamano and Professor of Japanese Wakana Kikuchi-Cavanaugh, won the MERLOT Award for Exemplary Online Learning Resources for their "Visualizing Japanese Grammar" learning materials.
