Environmental Resource Policy Program

The Environmental Resource Policy Program (ENRP) at GW offers a multidisciplinary approach to environmental and sustainability studies. Combining perspectives that include science, economics, law, and public policy, the master of arts program prepares students to enter careers in the field of environmental policy or to proceed to doctoral-level work in connected academic disciplines. Within the umbrella of ENRP, students can focus on the following concentrations:

  • Environmental Science and Policy
  • Urban Sustainability
  • Renewable Energy

Program Highlights

  • Program available to full- and part-time students
  • Faculty comprised of dedicated scholars whose fields of expertise range across disciplines and interests
  • Core courses provide broad intellectual base and the tools for understanding and researching the complex field of environmental and related studies
  • Electives allow students to construct their own concentrations, and to focus on their own interests within the field
  • A capstone course—which assigns students to external entities such as NGOs, governmental agencies, or sponsored research—gives students an opportunity to engage in research and apply the multi-disciplinary knowledge they have gained to real-world environmental issues

Meet the Chair

Professor Henry Teng's research focuses on mineral dissolution, crystallization, and transformation at different physiochemical conditions and in the presence inorganic, organic, and biochemical additives as well as living microorganisms through in situ and ex situ experimental explorations. Aiming to unravel reaction processes and mechanisms at crystal-water interfaces, Teng conducts studies that are directly applicable to geosciences, environmental sciences, and materials sciences.
